Mi chiamo Mario Jr. Nicorelli, vivo e lavoro a Salgareda, in provincia di Treviso. Nonostante non abbia titoli, premi o iscrizioni presso fondazioni rinomate, ho sviluppato una forte passione per la fotografia e la musica, che coltivo con curiosità ed eclettismo. Sebbene non mi consideri un professionista o un guru della fotografia, ho acquisito competenze significative in modo del tutto autodidatta.
My name is Mario Jr. Nicorelli, I live and work in Salgareda, in the province of Treviso. Despite not having titles, awards, or memberships with renowned foundations, I have developed a strong passion for photography and music, which I cultivate with curiosity and eclecticism. Although I do not consider myself a professional or a guru of photography, I have acquired significant skills entirely self-taught.
LA FOTOGRAFIA / MY PHOTOGRAPHY
Mi sono appassionato alla fotografia nel lontano 1999, quando ho acquistato la mia prima fotocamera reflex a pellicola, una Nikon F80. I soggetti che preferisco fotografare sono le gocce d’acqua nella macrofotografia. Questa passione è nata per caso un paio di anni fa e, poiché non sono un esperto di macrofotografia, ho dovuto iniziare a studiare le basi tecniche e la “filosofia” che delineano un buon risultato in questo genere di foto. Prima di cimentarmi nella macrofotografia, ho sempre amato fotografare la natura e il paesaggio, soprattutto nelle zone alpine. È importante precisare che non sono un fotografo che aspetta il “colpo di fortuna” o che cerca di “cogliere l’attimo” per caso. A me piace la fotografia tecnica, che si apprende con uno studio approfondito e con molte prove sul campo. Quando desidero una fotografia, cerco di realizzarla senza aspettare che capiti per caso.
I became passionate about photography back in 1999 when I bought my first film SLR camera, a Nikon F80. My preferred subjects to photograph are water droplets in macro photography. This passion arose by chance a couple of years ago, and since I am not an expert in macro photography, I had to start studying the technical basics and the “philosophy” that outlines a good result in this type of photo. Before delving into macro photography, I have always enjoyed photographing nature and landscapes, especially in alpine areas. It is important to note that I am not a photographer who waits for “lucky shots” or tries to “seize the moment” by chance. I like technical photography, which is learned through in-depth study and numerous field tests. When I want a photo, I try to create it without waiting for it to happen by chance.
LA MUSICA / MY MUSIC
Sono sempre stato appassionato di musica, sia classica che contemporanea. Ho iniziato a studiare pianoforte privatamente all’età di 7 anni e, per 10 anni, mi sono concentrato esclusivamente sulla musica classica. A 15 anni ho iniziato a lavorare come Lj e Dj per alcuni locali nella mia zona, sperimentando nel mio studio casalingo la creazione di musica dance. Oggi, dopo tanti anni, continuo a coltivare questa passione, spaziando dal classico al moderno, musicalmente parlando.
I have always been passionate about music, both classical and contemporary. I started studying piano as a private student at the age of 7, and for 10 years, I focused solely on classical music. At the age of 15, I began working as a DJ for some local venues in my area, experimenting with creating dance music in my home studio. Today, after so many years, I continue to pursue this passion, ranging from classical to modern music, musically speaking.
Macro Photographer Mario jr Nicorelli: la sua passione per le gocce d’acqua.
Quando mi chiedono: “Cosa ti appassiona della fotografia macro incentrata sulle gocce d’acqua?”, rispondo sempre che è iniziato come un gioco, un passatempo, un modo per fare test e prove. Poi, foto dopo foto, ho cominciato a vedere in quel “macro mondo di goccioline” una realtà che prima ad occhio nudo non riuscivo né a comprendere né ad immaginare, e questo mi ha spinto a continuare. Uscire presto al mattino e trovarsi da soli nei campi dove tutto era ricoperto di rugiada che brillava con le prime luci del sole mi rendeva felice come un bimbo alla sagra paesana. La fotografia macro è già di per sé articolata e molto tecnica come genere, e se aggiungiamo riflessi e illuminazioni particolari, tutto diventa ancora più problematico. Scoprire come realizzare scatti così complessi è stato lo stimolo che mi ha fatto appassionare alla realizzazione delle macro drops. Attualmente mi diverto a portare a casa ogni genere di fiore che mi presta l’amico fiorista, così da creare sempre nuovi set dove le goccioline siano il soggetto principale. E poi, diciamocelo, se vogliamo fare Street, dobbiamo cercare buoni posti e farne di strada a piedi, perché se stiamo fermi non portiamo a casa nulla; non solo, se vogliamo fare fotografia paesaggistica, dobbiamo cercare belle zone in cui posizionarci, e anche in questo genere ci vuole molto lavoro. Ma se decidiamo di fare macro… beh, ci basta un metro quadro di giardino e abbiamo a nostra disposizione migliaia di soggetti da poter riprendere in tutte le angolazioni che desideriamo.
Quando mi chiedono: “Quali difficoltà hai incontrato lungo il tuo percorso?”, partendo dal presupposto che sono un autodidatta e non ho mai partecipato a un workshop o corsi, credo che la vera difficoltà sia stata quella di riuscirci da solo, provando e riprovando fino a comprendere al meglio tutti i meccanismi legati sia alla tecnica di ripresa sia all’illuminazione della scena che alla composizione del set. La fantasia da sola non basta per realizzare una buona fotografia (ve lo dice uno che di fantasia ne ha da vendere), come non basta avere un buon soggetto da fotografare se poi ti mancano tutte le basi sulla composizione della foto che si vuole realizzare. Per essere onesto, vi dico che tutt’ora le difficoltà non sono finite; ogni volta che passo ad un nuovo genere macrofotografico, ci sono decine e decine di nuove nozioni da dover imparare, e quando lo faccio da solo, la soddisfazione è immensa.
Quando mi è stato chiesto: “Qual è la sfida di ogni scatto?”, la sfida sta nel trovare la giusta idea da abbinare ad ogni nuovo scatto. Se ci pensiamo bene, tutti possono diventare bravi a fotografare, ma pochi sono quelli che hanno buone idee per uscire da una fotografia convenzionale già vista in mille salse differenti.
When people ask me… What do you find captivating about macro photography focused on water droplets? I always answer that it all began as a game, a pastime, a way to test and experiment. Then, photo after photo, I started seeing in that “macro world of droplets” a reality that I couldn’t comprehend or imagine with the naked eye, and that pushed me to continue. Going out early in the morning and finding myself alone in fields where everything was covered in dew that shone with the first rays of the sun made me as happy as a child at the village fair. Macro photography is already a technical and complex genre, and if we add reflections and particular lighting, everything becomes even more challenging. Discovering how to capture such complex shots was the stimulus that made me enthusiastic about creating macro drops. Nowadays, I have fun bringing home all kinds of flowers that my florist friend lends me so I can create new sets where droplets are the main subject. And let’s be honest, if we want to do street photography, we have to look for good places and walk around a lot because if we stand still, we won’t bring anything home. Moreover, if we want to do landscape photography, we have to look for beautiful areas to position ourselves, and this type of photography also requires a lot of effort. But if we decide to do macro… well, all we need is one square meter of garden, and we have thousands of subjects at our disposal to capture from any angle we want. When I’m asked about the difficulties I encountered along the way… Starting from the assumption that I am a self-taught person who has never attended a workshop or courses, I believe that the real difficulty was to “make it” by myself, trying and experimenting until I could understand all the mechanisms related to both shooting techniques and scene lighting, as well as set composition. Creativity alone is not enough to make a good photograph (and trust me, I have plenty of creativity), just as having a good subject to photograph is not enough if you lack all the basics on which the photo you are going to make is based. To be honest, the difficulties are not over yet, quite the opposite. Every time I move on to a new macro photography genre, there are dozens and dozens of new notions to learn, and when you do it alone, the satisfaction is immense. When I was asked… What is the challenge of every shot? The challenge lies in finding the right idea to match each new shot. If we think about it, everyone can be good at photography or become good in a short time, but few have good ideas to get out of a conventional photograph that has already been seen in a thousand different ways..
